Chinese Government impose ban on TV Commercials

In this age of Advertising, Chinese Government have taken a new standpoint of providing more media entertainment at the cost of reducing advertising display time. Since most advertisers are linked with displaying their ads on TV serials, drama, etc.this announcement from the Chinese Government could certainly affect overall ad exposure.

This ban on TV commercials would be imposed from January 1. The ban includes advertisements that are shown in the middle of television dramas. The agency imposing the ban, is the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television. Their websites stated that from now onwards the ads would only appear at the start and end of a 45minute episode. Analysts predict that this new regulation would eventually result in lower ad revenues for television networks since several companies rely on TV commercials to advertise their products. The statistics also show that most hot spots in TV commercial are the ads which are shown in the middle of a program.
