Chinese Government impose ban on TV Commercials

In this age of Advertising, Chinese Government have taken a new standpoint of providing more media entertainment at the cost of reducing advertising display time. Since most advertisers are linked with displaying their ads on TV serials, drama, etc.this announcement from the Chinese Government could certainly affect overall ad exposure.

This ban on TV commercials would be imposed from January 1. The ban includes advertisements that are shown in the middle of television dramas. The agency imposing the ban, is the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television. Their websites stated that from now onwards the ads would only appear at the start and end of a 45minute episode. Analysts predict that this new regulation would eventually result in lower ad revenues for television networks since several companies rely on TV commercials to advertise their products. The statistics also show that most hot spots in TV commercial are the ads which are shown in the middle of a program.

Google Tablet Expected Next Year

The Tablet Industry seems to be growing rapidly. Apple's huge market share of iPad seems to be facing fierce competition from global players such as Samsung. According to Google CEO Eric Schmidt, even Google is gearing up for their own version of Tablet. They expect the launch to happen anytime in the second quarter of 2012. Google believes that they will go head-to-head with Apple's product line next year. Eric Schmidt, termed the clash as - "brutal competition between Apple and Google."

Inside sources stated that the new Google tablet would run the new and improvised of Android 4.0 - Ice Cream Sandwich. Therefore most probably they won't be configuring it on Honeycomb.

Google also has a new voice transcription technology coming up next year. Its named as "Majel". Almost an equivalent product to Apple's Siri. Thus the year 2012 may further heat up the Google vs. Apple war. Let's hope everything goes Fair and Square

Hot Brands of 2011 in US

HTC, Dove and Uniqlo have found their place in the the 'Hot Brands' in United States. These brands have made a striking mark in the US this year. According to Canalys, the mobile handset manufacturer, HTC, has sold the highest number of smartphones in America during this third quarter. Research analytics firm Kantar Media pegged HTC's advertisement expenditure at $65 million in 2010 and 2011 HTC has spend around $81 million to date. This shows the aggressive marketing approach HTC has taken this year in US.

Dove and Unilever did not get left behind as their personal care range's global sales surpassed $2 billion. This happened with the launch of men care products as well as with the on-going campaign for Real Beauty. As compared on an Year-on-Year basis its sales grew by 9.8% in the US for the year to October 2.

The Japanese apparel chain, Uniqlo, got promoted to the 'Hot Brands' list due to its recent opening of two major stores in New York.

The auto marque, Chevrolet, was lauded for the Cruze. Cruze is a "subcompact" four-door vehicle that had sold 200,000 units by October. Its main emphasis was on it's fuel efficiency backed by a core marketing message component. Chevrolet has gained in competition with Toyota Corolla and Honda Civic.
